Karakul Lake

Karakul Lake is located 220 kilometers from downtown Artux in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region., 3,600 meters above sea level, 10 square kilometers in size and 30 meters deep. Local people call the lake "Kalacul" for the dark green color of its water. (In Kizil language Kalacol means "black")
