Hemu Village
Hemu Township is the uttermost northern township in West China. It lies in a basin surrounded by mountains at the meeting spot of the Kanas River and the Hemu River (Hom River). Hemu Village in the township is the largest and remoest of the three commnities of the Tuva people. (The other two are Kanas Village and Baihaba Village.) Most of the villagers belong to the ethnic groups of Tuva Mongolian and Kazakh. Their log cabins bear marks of primitive nomadic life on the grassland. One can have a panoramic view of Hemu Village from the top of a hill outside the village, admire the sunrise, snow-capped mountains and gurgling streams, or take pictures of the sunrise, morning mist over the log cabins in the village and the Hemu River.
